Thanksgiving!

Hmmm.. I magically seem to have the pictures working again so I am going to play a bit of catch up. 

This was the table for Thanksgiving. For some reason, I once again thought it would be a brilliant idea to host a table for 12. This time I have learned my lesson and I roped in a bit more help than last year. I was ready with about 10 minutes to spare this time! You can admire the butternut squash soup as it is served and ignore the water bottle on the table. That actually held Gope's special dressing and it was the best travel container he could find! I don't want you to think we completely hard core athletes or anything.....

Out of Space

Just a random update... I'm out of space to post new photos. As soon as I stop to breathe (Christmas?) I'll buy more space and start posting again. I might even try and go out of the country before then....

It Apparently is Tasty

A friend of mine had this for dinner the other day.

It is apparently quite tasty. I'm not saying another word. (This is one of those posts that probably should be titled 'Cultural Differences')

River Competition

Sorry I've been absent so long. Work and life are a bit of a struggle at the moment. All good things (of course) but I am not balancing my time well, hence no blogging. I'm using my lunch hour at work to catch up a bit though.

Unfortunately, I don't have the best pictures from this event. Good friends Tim and Shannon Phillis organized us into a team for the local Cookham Regatta. We entered into two events, Dragon Boat races and the Canoe Cat. (Just a note none of us have ever done this before, I'm manning the front right)

 I have to say, it's all fun and games until the last 45 seconds or so.

The form starts to go and you can see I'm not nearly in time with the other rowers as I should. A tough day!

 Tucker was brought along as number one fan.

He got some serious lovin' from Shannon

So serious, that he got very tired.

And fell asleep on Katy. Such a great teammate! She lets my dog fall asleep on her when he is tired. (Note: Katy was sleeping too) Also, you can see one of the drago boats in the background. Complete with dragon on the front and requisite drummer.

In the end, we won the losers bracket for the canoe cat. I have some celebratory pictures around here somewhere. We celebrated in style by drinking bubbly out of the cup. If I get mono, you know why. PS I voted. Yeah!

Punting on the River

I know, I haven't blogged in awhile. Work has been mental and I haven't been traveling lately. My passport is still held hostage by the UK Border Agency so no fleeing the country just yet.

In the mean time, Tucker and I went up to Cambridge to visit Lysandra (you have seen her before in Italy and cycling posts) and we did a lovely tour of the city and university buildings.

One of the most popular past times when in Cambridge is to punt down the river. Meaning: push yourselves down the river with a long pole. Just don't let the pole get stuck in the mud.



I didn't try it. We did cycle around the lovely countryside and I was content to watch the punters below. :o)  also, I found some good (lost!) pictures on my camera so will be posting more soon. Hurrah!

Sarah Gets Married

This is a bit of a long post but I got some pretty good pics so needed to share all in on go.

 

 

Another weekend, and another triathlon wedding. :o)  Sarah and Julian got married in her hometown with a gorgeous ceremony and the reception held at her family's farm. Blue skies outside the church.

If I had better use of my camera (which I probably do, I'm just being lazy), I'd have zoomed in on this picture and removed all the random people to focus on the bride and groom. I'll need to work on that.

But first, the small marquee was ready for the guests to arrive.

Sarah woke up on the morning of her wedding to make everyone homemade scones. Wow!!!

Sarah's siblings created a croquet box for the happy couple. It says ' On Your Wedding Day' and unfortunately, my camera does not do the size of the box justice!!

Just in case you were confused. The Sea, The Farm, Dancing, Games, Bubbles and Dinner were all signposted for the guests.

One of the games - giant Jenga! Needless to say, it was good we tried this out before we had to many glasses of bubbles.

The bride in search of her dad. Unfortunately, it was a bit windy but still a magnificient view.

As Julian spent several years in Switzerland, friends gifted a personalized 'Julian and Sarah' cow bell. Just what every new couple needs.

My dates again! Phillipa and Gemma keep me company before the dancing starts.

And yes, the dancing did start. Sarah and Julian through a fantastic party with both a DJ and a live band. The triathletes enjoy themselves.

 

Smiles all around. A great ending to a great day.
